Problem:
A full-service toxicology contract research organization that serves the pharmaceutical, consumer product,
chemical, and medical device manufacturing marketplace required quantitative and analytical support for a
management-led buyout.
Scope of Work:
Quantalyst was brought in to provide analytical support for the a consulting team that had been engaged to develop a turnaround strategy for the firm.
What Quantalyst Did:
- Developed a product-by-product cash flow model to forecast near-term cash needs for current contracts. This was essentially a liquidation scenario for the purposes of determining the book value of the company.
- Developed cash-on-hand forecasts, P&L statements and balance sheets at two and five years out using management's sales forecast. This was done to produce a going concern forecast.
- Provided detailed financial reports as requested by the firm's bank.
Results:
- The management-led buyout succeeded.
- The company is growing profitably.
